Here is the birth announcement of our little Andrew.

It is hard to believe that Andrew is already a week and a half old.  Days and nights have melted together to create one continuous round of feeding, changing, comforting and cuddling Andrew.  I seem to get a few hours of sleep in there thanks to my mom, Kathy.  She has been with us since Andrew was born and will stay for another week.  It has been extremely helpful since Chris has had training at work this last week and it will continue this coming week.  I've been able to bring our crying baby to her in the middle of the night so that Chris can get as much sleep as he can.  She has also been making our dinners, grocery shopping, and doing our laundry.  Pretty much she is doing everything that I would normally do.  It will be interesting to see how we are able to handle everything once she is gone...

And so it Begins...

Today is a monumental day for a number of reasons.  First, we are finally starting the blog.  Second, and maybe most important, Andrew was born yesterday.  After a surprise visit to the hospital a couple of weeks ago because of contractions, we have been waiting everyday to see if that would be the day when we would have the baby.  Finally, we set up an appointment for Kimmie to be induced on 1/19.  We showed up to the hospital at 5 in the morning super alert and ready to go.  After a valiant attempt to be a tough guy, Kimmie got an epidural around 10; and she was ready to have the baby a few hours later.  The doctor come in and 10 minutes later Andrew was born.  Kimmie was a champ through the whole thing.

Andrew was officially born at 1:59 in the afternoon.  He measured 21 inches long, and weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces.  He was much bigger than our expectations because of how small Kimmie was.  We still haven't decided who he looks like the most, but he has lighter hair...which definitely comes from Kimmie.  The doctors all said that he looks great, and the nurses unanimously decided that he is the cutest baby they have ever seen.

It's been great to hear from so many great friends and family.  Luckily, our room is big enough to have a pretty large crowd.  We hope that you all enjoy reading about our new and exciting journey...
